X-ray Clavicle AP View



Region: clavicle

Pathology: fracture and dislocation of clavicle

SID: 100 cm (40 inches)

Central Ray: beam directed at the center of the clavicle with 10~20˚ cephalic angulation

Respiration: suspended with expiration

Position: 

1. The patient is placed either in a supine position or in an erect position.
2. Place the center of the clavicle at the center of the image receptor (IR) and place the back of shoulders firmly on the IR.
3. Let the patient look straight with the chin up in an erect posture.

Collimation: Include clavicle.

Evaluation: 

1. Acromion of scapula to distal portion of clavicle must be observed.
2. Acromioclavicular joint and sternoclavicular joint (S-C joint) must be observed.

Tip: 

1. When shooting unilateral and clavicle, IR which is the size of 24 × 30 cm (10 × 12 inch) can be used.
