X-RAY OF SHOULDER JOINT

X-ray Shoulder A/P View

Shoulder AP (Neutral Rotation)

Region: glenohumeral jointscapula, proximal humerusclavicle, bursa

Pathology: fracture of distal humerus and clavicle, dislocation, subluxation and calcification of shoulder joint

SID: 100 cm (40 inches)

Central Ray: perpendicular beam directed at the point 2.5 cm (1 inches) inferior to the coracoid process

Respiration: suspended

Position:

1. The patient is placed either in a supine position or in an erect position.
2. Lean the body towards the IR to place the shoulder joint tightly on the IR.
3. Place coracoid process at the center of IR and place shoulder 5 cm distal to the superior edge of the IR.
4. Adjust the humerus to the neutral pronosupination position.

Collimation: Include 2/3 of clavicle and 1/3 proximal portion of humerus.
